Travel Goth

I LOVE my travel neck pillow. I actually sleep on it every night to protect my impractical upper ear piercing. However, if I am going to take it traveling it needs to go with my outfit. So I need a new, darker version:

I’m all excited about travelling and wanted to make some ‘practical’ purchases to make my upcoming holiday seem organised.

I’ve always disputed the usefulness of a sarong while travelling, but I’m hoping a pashmina might actually be of service. I’ve picked one that’s large enough to use as an in-flight blanket, but will also double as a scarf or wrap.

I’ve also learnt the hard way from past lost luggage experiences not to put all of your eggs in one basket. So DH and I will be spreading our stuff between our two suitcases. Not happy with this though, I distrust his ability to keep his cleans separate from his dirties. So …

So last weekend we went to Byron Bay with my brother and his wife. But I stupidly forgot my dodgy old mobile, and ended up having to contact my sister-in-law via mall internet on facebook. Not ideal. We actually tried to buy an iphone for me at the mall, but no one would sell an unlocked one. I had my ipod touch with me, and I was full of buyer’s remorse that I hadn’t just sucked it up and paid the extra for the phone.

So, here is it is. I am buying a phone. I will actually use it and learn my own number. I will actually carry it with me and have it switched on. That’s the plan, although I have my suspicions that I will mostly use it for the mobile armory.

My new ipod is already pretty scratched up. I don’t really care about that, but I probably should protect it in some way. Enter: Etsy!

If you must ride with a bag, Crumplers are the bomb. ( I am a pannier convert, but anyway). I took my husband’s when I went to HK, and it was the most awesome travel bag. Deceptively roomy, comfortable and urban chic. I want one for Europe, so he is giving me his, and I am buying him this new one.

I remember seeing Crumplers for sale when I was in Switzerland, and had a little swelling of Aussie pride.

This is probably the only novelty flash site I have ever visited that was somewhat charming and didn’t annoy me into leaving.
